The Notre Dame Law School Office of Admissions is pleased to connect with prospective and admitted students in person and remotely for the Spring 2022 semester. 

University COVID Guidelines

Please note that in-person visits will be conducted in line with the University of Notre Dame’s COVID policies. Visitors are encouraged to review the University’s policies prior to arranging their travel plans. Please note that said policies are subject to change based on the evolving nature of the pandemic.

Of particular note, the University presently requires that all visitors - regardless of vaccination status - wear a mask while inside campus buildings and at any other time designated by the University.

In-Person “Prospective Student” Visit, Spring Semester

Individuals: In-person visits for prospective and waitlisted students will be held on Mondays. A visit day includes a class observation, admissions information session and a student-led tour of the Law School.

The Monday visit day will begin with a tour at 1:15 PM Eastern and will conclude at 4:30 PM after an information session.  Student visitors should check-in at the Office of Admissions at 12:45 PM.

The Office of Admissions may only host ten (10) visitors per day in order to maintain social distancing measures. As such, visits are limited to ten visitors each day. Programming is limited to prospective students only (no guests).

In-Person “Admitted Student” Visit, Spring Semester

Individuals: In-person visits for admitted students will be held on Fridays. A visit day includes a class observation, a student-led tour of the Law School and information sessions with Admissions and Career Development.

The Friday visit day will begin with a class observation at 9:30 AM Eastern and will conclude with a tour of the Law School. Student visitors should check-in at the Office of Admissions at 9:00 AM.

Summer (late-May through mid-July): Summer visits are tentative. Information will be confirmed at a later date.

A member of the Admissions Office will respond to you within two (2) business days to confirm your visit. Space is limited, so please register early.

Groups/Pre-Law Societies: We are happy to host groups (pre-law societies, etc.) for a visit. Please contact Sheila Fell at lawadmit@nd.edu prior to scheduling your trip to ensure your entire group can be accommodated on your requested date. Each student should also register individually through this form.

Remote Visits for Prospective Students, Spring Semester

The NDLS Office of Admissions is pleased to host group information sessions via Zoom on Wednesdays during the spring semester. Each information session will last one hour, include a brief overview of the Law School and admissions process and then provide time for a general question-and-answer period. 

The Zoom sessions will alternate between 12PM, 3PM, and 7PM Eastern.

Travel Information

Traveling by Air

Notre Dame is about 15 minutes from South Bend International Airport (SBN). Chicago O’Hare and Chicago Midway airports are around a 2.5-hour drive from campus.

Traveling by Car

From the Toll Road (east or west): We’re located just south of the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 80/90). Exit I-80/90 at Exit 77 and turn right onto Indiana 933. Make a left at the fourth stop light (Angela Boulevard) then turn left at either the first (Notre Dame Avenue), or second stoplight (Eddy Street). Follow signs to visitor parking, located in the Walsh Architecture Visitors Lot on the south end of campus.

From the south: Take U.S. 31 north which becomes Indiana 933 just south of the city of South Bend. Stay on Indiana 933 through downtown South Bend to Angela Boulevard. Turn right onto Angela, and then turn left at either the first (Notre Dame Avenue), or second stoplight (Eddy Street). Follow signs to visitor parking, located in the Walsh Architecture Visitors Lot on the south end of campus.

Traveling by Bus

Bus services are provided by Coach USA, Greyhound Lines and Royal Excursion (Bus Schedule, royalexcursion.com), via terminals at the South Bend International Airport.

Traveling by Train

The South Shore Line provides service from downtown Chicago to the South Bend International Airport. National train service is provided by Amtrak.

Taxis and Ride Sharing

The following taxi cab companies serve the South Bend/Notre Dame area:

  • South Bend Taxi: 574-383-6767
  • Uber and Lyft are available in South Bend, though not with the same frequency you may find in a larger city.

Time Zone Note

The University of Notre Dame is located in the Eastern Time Zone. If you are traveling to campus from Chicago, please note that you will “lose” an hour during your commute. Campus is approximately a 2 to 2.5 hour drive from O’Hare. A driver leaving O’Hare at 9:00 AM Central should arrive on campus at approximately Noon or 12:30 PM Eastern. Similarly, a driver leaving campus at 1 PM Eastern should arrive at O’Hare by approximately 2:00 or 2:30 PM Central.
