  Jan-Philipp Lenhardt (Germany) is an exchange student from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. He is particularly interested in public law, competition law, and international dispute resolution.

  Alongside his studies, Jan-Philipp has gained practical experience in leading German law firms and political institutions, including antitrust, litigation, arbitration, and parliamentary work in the German Bundestag. Before law school, he held leadership roles in liberal youth and student organizations and worked in political strategy and communication. He is also a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and has received recognition for his academic work on antitrust law.

  At Notre Dame, Jan-Philipp looks forward to deepening his understanding of the American legal system, engaging with constitutional and comparative perspectives, and becoming part of the Law School’s academic and campus community. As a former competitive fencer, he is especially excited to study at a university with one of the world’s most renowned fencing programs.

  James O’Dowd (Ireland) is an American citizen born abroad in Ireland, studying for his law degree at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland's premier university and one of the top-ranked universities in the world. Before law school, James volunteered with disadvantaged Romani children in Romania's poorest region for six months, providing non-formal education and daily meals. James gained litigation experience at Harrison O'Dowd Solicitors LLP, a Limerick firm specializing in defence litigation and insurance disputes, and interned at the Emerald Isle Immigration Center, an immigration legal aid nonprofit in Queens, New York City, where his legal writing was published under his own byline. He previously served as Welfare and Equality Officer at Trinity Hall and as National Outreach Coordinator for the Trinity Law Society. His interests lie in intellectual property, civil rights, and litigation. This fall, James looks forward to connecting with students and professionals from the U.S. and abroad at Notre Dame.

  Rían Ó Gallachóir is a law student at Trinity College Dublin with a strong academic focus on corporate law and corporate finance. His interest in these areas grew from his involvement with the Trinity College Student Managed Fund and was further developed through internships at both Matheson and Goodbody Stockbrokers. Rían is passionate about understanding the intersection of law and financial markets and hopes to pursue a career in this space. Outside the classroom, Rían is a keen sports enthusiast and serves as a sports ambassador for Trinity College. He has a particular love for Gaelic football, and is heavily involved in the Trinity College GAA club. During his time at Notre Dame, he is excited to immerse himself in the famous Fighting Irish spirit, especially game days and tailgating, and looks forward to representing the Notre Dame GAA club on the field.

  Yaroslav Ovcharuk (Ukraine) is a Master’s student at the Faculty of Law of the Ukrainian Catholic University. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at UCU Law School in 2025. In recent years, Yaroslav has been involved in providing legal assistance to service members, veterans, their family members, and persons with war-related disabilities. He works as a supervisor at the UCU Legal Clinic and has also gained experience working with NGOs and rehabilitation centers. His academic interests include human rights, the history and philosophy of law, as well as administrative and criminal law. Outside of his studies, Yaroslav enjoys playing tennis and singing. During his exchange semester at the University of Notre Dame, he looks forward to meeting new people, academic growth, and cultural exchange.

  Iryna Panteleimoniyk (Ukraine) is a third-year law student at the Faculty of Law of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). Her primary academic focus is international law, with a particular interest in international criminal law. She is an active member of UCU’s team at the IBA ICC Moot Court Competition.

  Beyond academics, Iryna has been actively involved in student self-government. She previously coordinated a course on social project development, working with more than 400 first-year students, and led a university initiative supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

  Since the beginning of summer 2025, Iryna has been practicing at the UCU Legal Clinic, where she provides pro bono legal aid to veterans and people affected by the war.

  Richard Riemer (Germany) is an exchange student arriving from the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, having recently completed his Bachelor of Laws. His key academic focus lies in Public Law. Mr. Riemer brings practical experience to his studies, including an internship at an American law firm. He possesses a deep personal connection to the U.S., having lived previously for a year as an exchange student in Indiana, where he maintains close ties with his host family and friends. During his time at Notre Dame Law School, he aims to expand his knowledge of the American Legal System. A dedicated soccer player, he looks forward to joining the university sports scene and is especially excited about meeting new people and forging international connections within the community.

  Sara Stronati (Italy) is an international exchange student from Italy and a law student at Bocconi University. Her academic interests include criminal law, international law, and anti-discrimination law. She is currently involved in a legal clinic, volunteering at the legal assistance desk of Bollate Prison in Milan, an experience that has further shaped her academic and professional goals.

  Outside the classroom, Sara has a strong passion for sports. She swam competitively for many years and enjoys playing beach volleyball. During her time at Notre Dame Law School, she looks forward to experiencing life on an American university campus, engaging fully with the student community, and deepening her understanding of international law. She hopes her experience at Notre Dame will foster both personal and academic growth, as well as meaningful connections with students and faculty from around the world.

  Ana Luisa Teixeira (Brazil) is the first exchange student at Notre Dame Law School from FGV Rio Law, Brazil. She is a third-year law student with a strong interest in civil, corporate, and banking law.

  Ana took part in a year-long research project on legal education, during which she demonstrated a keen aptitude for academic inquiry through her project on the impacts of using computers and other digital devices in the classroom, particularly in courses that adopt active learning methodologies.

  In summer 2025, Ana completed an internship in capital and financial markets law. She is also the founder and organizer of the first Brazilian undergraduate law competition focused on corporate law and capital markets.

  Beyond her academic pursuits, Ana has an enduring passion for literature and is a devout Catholic. During her stay at Notre Dame, she expects to make meaningful connections, immerse herself in the American legal system, and strengthen her faith.

  Francis Viljoen (Ireland) is a law student at Trinity College Dublin. She is originally from South Africa and grew up in Dubai. Francis’ academic interests mainly revolve around commercial law, as she is an aspiring solicitor. Francis is excited to spend her exchange semester at the beautiful campus of Notre Dame and meet new people from different backgrounds.
