Experiential Learning

Clinics are the law school’s teaching law offices. They are free, community legal services programs that allow students to engage in law practice under close supervision of full time, seasoned expert faculty members.

Field Placements (Externships)

Externships offer an opportunity for second-year and third-year students to earn academic credit while working in outside law offices or judicial chambers.

Skills Courses

In addition to developing practice skills through live client representation in clinics, externships, and pro bono programs, NDLS students can hone a range of lawyering skills through hands-on simulation courses that require them to perform lawyering tasks.

Immersion Courses

The Law School offers several other courses that allow students to do important learning outside of the South Bend campus.
