Ellen Kearney is from the North Coast of Northern Ireland and graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2021, with honours in Law (LLB). In July 2023, Ellen joined the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as the Assistant Private Secretary to Fiona Bruce MP, the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief. In tandem, she undertook Private Office positions for the Director of Multilateral and Human Rights and the Head of the Human Rights Department.
Prior to her position in the UK Foreign Office, Ellen worked for Miriam Cates MP and for a leading human rights lawyer in London. Ellen is a Blackstone Legal Fellow, and an alumnus of Areté Academy Europe and the CARE Leadership Programme. In August, she looks forward to moving to Indiana to join the 2025 International Human Rights Law (LLM) cohort at the University of Notre Dame.
