Chidera Onah was born in Enugu State, Nigeria, and earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nigeria, and her Qualifying Certificate from the Nigerian Law School, graduating with a Second Class Upper Division respectively. She is a member of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria) and the Nigerian Bar Association. Since 2019, she has been an active lawyer in different areas of practice, with an interest in Human Rights Law. She served as a Pupil State Counsel with the Department of Public Prosecutions at the Ministry of Justice, Anambra State (2019-2020).

Before coming to Notre Dame, she worked as an Associate in IUC Global Chambers in Nigeria and also provided aid to female inmates in the form of legal aid and fundraising efforts to supply necessarities. Chidera is passionate about the advancement of human rights, women and children’s rights, and rights of prisoners in Nigeria.
