Private Law Workshop: Property and Private Law, Eric Claeys

In this workshop, Professor Eric Claeys, George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School, will present a chapter from a forthcoming book, Natural Property Rights. In the four chapters preceding the chapter Claeys will present, the book shows how natural property rights structure the institution of ownership, how they structure the res that law and social morality designate as the "things" on which property focuses, and how they guide the subdivision of ownership rights. We should expect to see property rights protected throughout private law. To many, however, private law doesn't seem a promising field for studying property issues.
