Locked Up and Innocent? A Talk with Mark Rotert from the Cook County Conviction Integrity Unit

Mark Rotert from the Cook County Conviction Integrity Unit will come speak to students about his work in Chicago investigating possible wrongful conviction claims. The unit reviews any claims from a person who was convicted in Cook County to maintain the integrity and legitimacy of the justice system. Case intakes emanate mostly from letters from the convicted person, their loved ones, and attorneys, post-conviction filings with actual innocence claims, innocence projects, media, or from an internal source such as an ASA in the in the Special Litigation Unit.
