Panel Discussion: “Issues in Contract Drafting”

-

Location: Room 3331 Biolchini Hall of Law

All NDLS students interested in transactional work are welcome to attend a Sept. 2 panel discussion on contract drafting from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Biolchini 3331 (ask the Library circulation desk for directions).

The discussion, which is part of the intensive Contract Drafting course being taught by Adjunct Professor Ken Adams, will cover challenges in how contract drafting is handled; advice for junior lawyers; changing traditional contract language; and the role of automation. Seating will be limited.

On the panel are Glenn D. West, a partner at the law firm Weil Gotshal and manager of the firm’s Dallas office; Steven O. Weise, a partner at the Los Angeles office of the law firm Proskauer; and John “Fitz” FitzPatrick, U.S. counsel for the global company LEONI Wiring Systems, Inc. West and Weise are well-known figures in the transactional community who have also produced important scholarship. They will be participating by video. FitzPatrick is active in the Association of Corporate Counsel and has taught contract drafting as an adjunct professor; he will be present in person.

Professor Adams is a speaker and consultant on contract drafting. He is the author of A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting (ABA 3d ed. 2013), a work that’s in widespread use internationally. For more information, contact Ken Adams at kadams@adamsdrafting.com.
