Philip Clifford KC founded Latham & Watkins’ London Litigation and Trial Department in 2003 and, since then, has served in many roles, including Global Co-Chair of the International Arbitration Practice and Chair of the London Litigation & Trial Department. He is a King’s Counsel and Solicitor-Advocate (England and Wales)

Drawing on 30+ years’ experience, he resolves international disputes effectively and efficiently. His successful track record representing clients (from private corporations to government owned entities and states), spans many sectors, including oil and gas, construction, energy, and telecommunications.

He is a long-term Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a UK representative on the ICC Commission on Arbitration, co-author of a leading book on the LCIA Arbitration Rules, and a Consulting Editor for LexisNexis.

Philip Clifford KC has been recognised in The Legal 500 UK 2023-2024 Hall of Fame – International Arbitration.

He was educated at the University of Oxford (MA, Law) and King’s College London (MSc Arbitration and Construction Law).
