Margaret Martin is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, at the University of Western Ontario. She researches and teaches in legal philosophy, international criminal law, criminal theory, and the history of political thought. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Law, and a Master of Studies of Law from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. She also holds an MA in Philosophy, and a BA honours (summa cum laude) in Philosophy and English Literature, both from McMaster University.

In 2014, Martin published her monograph, Judging Positivism (Hart Publishing, Oxford). In 2023, she co-edited New Essays on the Fish-Dworkin Debate (Hart Publishing, Oxford) bringing together an extensive collection of writing by internationally prominent legal theorists. Martin is the editor of the Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence and also serves on the editorial boards of leading legal theory journals, including the American Journal of Jurisprudence and Jurisprudence.

Martin has been a fellow at the University of Toronto, and Corpus Christie College, University of Cambridge. In 2024, she held a Visiting Professorship at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil.
