Katie Takeuchi joined the Notre Dame Exoneration Justice Clinic in April 2024. Prior to working at the EJC, Katie spent two years litigating in South Florida at Heise Suarez Melville P.A., a prestigious litigation boutique in Coral Gables, Florida. There, Katie successfully tried a wrongful-death case involving police misconduct against Miami-Dade County. The jury awarded $3 million to the widow and child of a young man who was killed by a police officer.
Katie graduated cum laude from Notre Dame Law School in 2020, where she served as the executive editor of the Notre Dame Law Review and was a member of the Notre Dame Moot Court Board. After graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Charles R. Wilson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2020-2021 term) and the Honorable Federico A. Moreno of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida (2021-2022 term).
