Julie Douglas joined the Notre Dame Law School Legal Writing Staff in 2009. Julie is a graduate of Purdue University and Notre Dame Law School, where she was very active in the Legal Aid Clinic. After law school, Douglas practiced civil rights law with her father, Ivan Bodensteiner. She litigated dozens of discrimination and other cases in the federal courts in Indiana, obtaining multiple verdicts on behalf of her clients. Douglas is married to George Douglas; they have three children: Maddie, Sam, and Sarah, and a White Lab named Bodie. The Douglas family resides in Valparaiso, Indiana, where Douglas is extremely involved in her community. She has served as Chair of the Board of the Valpo Schools Foundation; President of Tri Kappa; President of the Porter County Inns of Court Chapter; and a Board member at Hilltop Neighborhood House. Most recently, Douglas co-founded and serves as co-executive director of a thriving non-profit called Dressed for School which provides new clothing at no cost to Valparaiso Community Schools elementary school children who have financial need.
