Legal Fellow, Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty

John Paul Kolnik is the Legal Fellow (Advocacy) in the Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty Clinic. He works alongside and mentors students as they defend the rights of people of faith. His work involves a wide range of civil litigation as well as immigration proceedings for those fleeing religious persecution.

Before joining the Religious Liberty Clinic in 2026, Kolnik had the privilege of serving as a law clerk to three excellent judges. First, to Judge Liam P. Hardy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces; second, to Judge Leslie H. Southwick on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; and third, to Judge Thomas D. Schroeder on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
