John Meyer joined the Law School in February 2025 as the Executive Director of the Church Properties Initiative (CPI), housed under the Fitzgerald Institute of Real Estate (FIRE). CPI’s mission is to support Church leaders in strategically aligning their real estate assets to meet the evolving needs of the Church and community, fostering both mission-aligned outcomes and financial sustainability. CPI drives proactive stewardship of church property by combining data-informed research and capacity-building across sustainable development, land use, law, finance, management, planning, governance, and more. During the Spring of 2023, John was a Visting Scholar for the Fitzgerald Institute of Real Estate at the University of Notre Dame.
 
He served as the Executive Director of the Napa Institute from 2014-2023 where he transformed the organization into one of the premier Catholic networks and apostolates. In addition to his work with the Napa Institute, John has over 12 years of experience in real estate development, including as a Managing Partner at Beckett Development. John is an active member of several boards and advisory councils, including the Supervisory Committee of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union, the President's Advisory Council of FOCUS, the Catholic Advisory Board of the Museum of the Bible, and the Board of Directors of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.
 
John earned his BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in Economics from the University of Illinois and a Master of Non-Profit Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds a certificate in Real Estate Development from Cornell University.
