Dr. Jane Wathuta is a Kenyan academic, currently serving as the Dean of Strathmore Law School and the Director of the Strathmore Institute for Family Studies & Ethics (IFS). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and also a Board Member of the Strathmore Academy for International Research Collaboration (SAIRC).
Jane has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Masters in Marriage and Family (MMF) from the University of Navarre, Spain, and a Doctorate in Bioethics from the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, Italy. She was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a visiting faculty member at the University of Gdansk in Poland. She has pursued additional training in areas such as Children’s Rights, Women’s Studies, Research Ethics, Mediation, and Inspirational Leadership (Kylemore, hosted by University of Notre Dame), among other leadership courses.
Her current scholastic projects include family mediation, artificial reproductive technologies, marriage, parenthood, older persons, work-family balance, gender equality and perinatal care. She is dedicated to supporting advances in the higher education sector, and actively mentors university students, early-career professionals, and members of marginalised communities.
