Giuseppe Portonera is a Research Fellow in Private Law at the Catholic University of Milan and an Adjunct Professor of Juvenile Civil Law at its Piacenza campus. He holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in civil law.
His research and publications focus on the law of obligations, family law, juvenile law, and comparative law, with further interests in legal interpretation and general legal theory.
Giuseppe Portonera is the author of two monographs – one on the legal philosophy of US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and another on the disgorgement of profits – and has contributed numerous articles and reviews to legal publications.
He previously clerked in the Milan Court of Appeals (civil division) and completed several research periods abroad, particularly in the Netherlands (at Radboud University) and the United Kingdom (at the Institute of European and Comparative Law in Oxford). He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and seminars.
