Daniel Slate, visiting assistant professor of law, researches and writes on law and technology, emergency powers, and constitutional history. His technology law scholarship is informed by previous experience in the software industry, where he worked in product management, business development, and privacy and civil liberties roles. In the past year, his article Infringed has been cited in federal judicial opinions and at oral argument before the United States Supreme Court in Wolford v. Lopez.
Slate is a faculty affiliate of the AI Trust and Reliability Lab and the Human-Centered Responsible AI Lab at Notre Dame’s Data, AI, and Computing Initiative. He earned his B.A. in philosophy, with honors and distinction, J.D., and Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University and also studied in yeshivot in Israel.
