Cecilia Lopez Monterrosa is a proud Los Angeles native. She graduated with a degree in Political Science and Law and Society from the University of California, Riverside and earned her law degree at Valparaiso University Law School. Lopez Monterrosa is the managing attorney at the Monterrosa Law Group, LLC. in South Bend, where she practices criminal defense, family law, and immigration law nationwide. She is the supervising public defender for St. Joseph County – Traffic and Misdemeanor Court and a Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorney in Federal Court – Northern District of Indiana. She is also a 2016 recipient of Michiana's 40 Under 40 award. A founding member of the Indiana Latino Bar Association, Lopez Monterrosa also serves on the Board of Governors of the St. Joseph County Bar Association and is a past commissioner on the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Delivery of Legal Services. She is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Notre Dame Law School, co-teaching the Public Defender Externship as well as a candidate for the Executive Masters in Business Association at Mendoza College of Business with expected graduation in 2025. When she’s not serving her community, Lopez Monterrosa loves to travel and explore new countries. She currently lives in South Bend with her husband, Rodolfo S. Monterrosa Jr., and two pomeranians, Foxxy and Oso.
