Anton (Toni) Burri-Wenzel

Toni is a Research Fellow in the Program on Law and Economics. He holds degrees in law (MLaw, BLaw) and economics (BA) from the University of Lucerne, is a Swiss qualified attorney, and was an exchange student at Notre Dame Law School from 2015 to 2016. Currently, Toni is pursuing a PhD in law and economics from the University of Lucerne and the Erasmus University Rotterdam, for which he was awarded a grant by the Swiss National Science Foundation and a Max-Planck Scholarship.

During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting scholar at the University of New South Wales in Sydney and at the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law in Luxembourg. In addition, Toni was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Mannheim and for several years coached Lucerne’s team in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In addition to his academic pursuits, Toni was a junior associate at a major Swiss business law firm, an analyst at a leading European litigation finance company, and an associate at a boutique law firm focused on international dispute resolution. Toni’s research focuses on litigation finance, class actions, international arbitration, and contracts, adopting law-and-economics as well as comparative perspectives.
