Rodolfo “Rudy” Monterrosa, ’01 J.D. and adjunct professor at Notre Dame Law School, celebrated the grand opening of Monterrosa Law Group, LLC, on March 9, in conjunction with the initiation of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce. Both entities will be serving the South Bend community from a shared location. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg joined in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcomed both the Monterrosa Law Group and the Latin American Chamber of Commerce.

“At a moment when the rule of law has never been more important — and there are families and businesses across our region as well as everywhere in the country who more than ever are feeling a certain level of tension, anxiety, and uncertainty — it is our job as a community to wrap our arms around anybody who is feeling that type of uncertainty,” Buttigieg said. “But also people need protection. They need the service of those that can provide them legal advice and legal insight so they can navigate a system that is at times intimidating. And so you have two organizations right here in the heart of South Bend that are not only creating jobs and helping us grow, but really making this city a better place.”

Monterrosa will fulfill a promise he made when he entered Notre Dame Law School in 1998, to work to provide everyone with “justice and opportunity,” especially those that may be underserved, he said. The Monterrosa Law Group serves the Northern Indiana community in the areas of criminal defense, family, and personal injury law, as well as nationwide services in the area of immigration defense. Attorneys Rodolfo and Cecilia Monterrosa, his wife, will serve the community in both English and Spanish. The Latin American Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to serving Latino and Latino-serving business owners with the opportunity to grow and continue to impact the South Bend community.
