Andrea M. Barton, ‘05 BA, ‘09 J.D.

Miller Nash is pleased to announce that Andrea Barton has rejoined the firm as a partner on the firm’s education and employment & labor relations teams. Barton previously served as general counsel for the University of Portland for six years, including four years as vice president. Barton has extensive experience in advising institutions of higher education both from her prior work with Miller Nash and her work as general counsel. In addition, Barton’s practice with the firm and in-house has included advice and counsel on all aspects of employment law, including issues surrounding tenure and promotion in higher education, student issues such as Title IX and disability accommodations, crisis management and regulatory compliance. “We are thrilled to have Andrea rejoin our education and employment law teams,” says Mike Porter, education team leader. “Andrea’s industry knowledge and time as in-house counsel provides our clients with a perspective to help identify and resolve legal challenges facing educational institutions and her experience will also serve a broad range of clients as they manage a variety of legal issues.”
