David R. Pruitt joined Notre Dame Law School as director of the Clinical Law Center in June 2017. Prior to his position at the Law School, Pruitt was a partner in the litigation department in the South Bend office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. He concentrated his practice in commercial and intellectual property litigation. He represented clients in state and federal courts around the country.

Pruitt received his B.B.A. and J.D., both cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. During his time as a student at the Law School, he was a member of the Notre Dame Law Review and taught legal writing. Pruitt is admitted to practice in the Indiana courts as well as courts in several other states. He is a member of the Indiana State, St. Joseph County and American Bar Associations, and currently serves as president of the St. Joseph County Bar.

Pruitt served on the Attorney Advisory Committee for the Electronic Case Filing System for the Northern District of Indiana. He is a past board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County and the American Heart Association of Northern Indiana. He also served as the school board president for St. Joseph Grade School. In addition, he teaches a business torts class at Notre Dame Law School. Prior to returning to South Bend, he practiced with Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Washington, D.C. He is married with four children.
