Cynthia Phillips-Cordes, ’04 J.D.

Cynthia Cordes recently received a 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award from her alma mater Boston University’s College of Communications. The award was presented to Cordes for career achievements at a ceremony on campus in Boston during alumni weekend. Cordes was selected by Boston University President, Robert Brown, for a position on the newly launched Women’s Leadership Coalition and participated in the inaugural event , “The President’s Panel: A Conversation with BU Women.” Cordes was also invited to serve as a featured speaker at the College of Communication 100 year anniversary celebration where Cordes spoke on the role of the media in the law.

Cynthia Phillips-Cordes, a partner with Husch Blackwell, has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation. Cordes is one of only five women in the state of Missouri recognized for this honor. Additionally, Cordes was the recipient of the Missouri Bar Pro Bono Publico Award, presented annually to four attorneys who have rendered outstanding pro bono service to indigent or low income persons in need of legal assistance. Cordes is a nationally recognized former federal prosecutor and leader in complex criminal litigation. During her years with the U.S. Department of Justice, Cordes spearheaded and led a multiagency task force of more than 20 federal and state law enforcement agencies and 60 non-profits. Today, Cordes represents clients under criminal and civil investigation by the federal and state governments and leads internal investigations and government compliance for companies. Cordes is a member of the firm’s Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation team and also leads the firm’s Human Trafficking Pro Bono Legal Clinic.
