The University honored NDLS Professor Jay Tidmarsh as a 2014 Featured Faculty during the third quarter of the North Carolina football game October 11. He was recognized during the second half of the game in an on-field ceremony at Notre Dame Stadium and invited to enjoy the third quarter from the Notre Dame sideline.

A leading scholar in the areas of civil procedure and complex civil litigation, Professor Tidmarsh was the inaugural holder of the M.O. Miller professorship and has repeatedly been named Teacher of the Year by NDLS graduating classes and the Black Law Students’ Association.

“My teaching and scholarship,” Professor Tidmarsh said, “focus on the ways that judges and lawyers can improve our system of civil justice, especially in mass disputes, while remaining faithful to the millennium-old legal tradition of which we are the present caretakers. Notre Dame has been a wonderful place to engage in this inquiry. My colleagues and my students are extraordinarily bright and gifted, and they understand the importance of law in pursuing the common good.”
