The Notre Dame Law School Research Program on Law and Market Behavior announced the addition of Stephen Yelderman, Associate Professor of Law, as one of the Program’s Faculty Fellows. “We are delighted to have Professor Yelderman join the ranks of our Faculty Fellows,” said Professor Avishalom Tor, LAMB’s director. He further noted that “Professor Yelderman’s research, which examines how intellectual property rights protect, impair, and stimulate competition, is an excellent fit for our mission of advancing the study of how legal rules and institutions shape the market behaviors of individuals and firms.”

Prior to joining the Notre Dame faculty in 2013, Professor Yelderman served in the Telecommunication and Media section of the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. In this capacity, he investigated and litigated a variety of cases involving merger and non-merger conduct in the cable and wireless industries. Previously, Professor Yelderman was an early member of Ocean Tomo Intellectual Property Auctions, the first group to sell patents in a live open outcry auction format. He also worked as a Patent Agent in Silicon Valley, representing inventors from Google, Apple, Cisco, and Honda’s humanoid robotics laboratory before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Professor Yelderman graduated from University of Chicago Law School, and holds MS and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He clerked for the Honorable Neil M. Gorsuch on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. At Notre Dame Law School, Professor Yelderman teaches Intellectual Property, Patent Law, and Copyrights.

The Research Program on Law and Market Behavior at Notre Dame Law School (ND LAMB) is dedicated to promoting foundational research that seeks to influence the way scholars and policymakers think about a range of timely legal and policy issues at the intersection of law and market behavior. Specifically, ND LAMB explores interdisciplinary research across a number of interrelated legal fields including corporate governance, antitrust, intellectual property, property and contract law, and the legal regulation of individuals and firms in the market more generally. The Program draws extensively on relevant extra-legal research in empirical disciplines from psychology and economics to business and beyond.
