Professor Seckinger Wins Lifetime Achievement Award in Trial Advocacy

Professor James H. Seckinger has been named the recipient of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in teaching advocacy by the Stetson University College of Law’s “Educating Advocates: Teaching Advocacy Skills” Conference.

He will be presented with the award at the Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner that is being held in connection with the Conference’s annual meeting May 23-25.

In announcing the award, Professor Charles H. Rose III, the Director for the Center for Excellence in Advocacy at Stetson, said, “I am extremely pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s lifetime achievement award for excellence in teaching advocacy is Prof. James Seckinger at the University of Notre Dame. Jim is a personal mentor of mine, and one of the guiding forces of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, serving as its director from 1979 through 1994. Jim has forgotten more about teaching advocacy than many of us will ever know. He is a generous spirit who will share with us his reflections on a lifetime spent teaching the subjects that each of us love.”

At NDLS, Professor Seckinger teaches and writes in the areas of deposition techniques, evidence, professional responsibility and trial advocacy.
