What Happened to Our Books?

| By: Susan Good

During fall break, Hallett Movers transferred most of the books in Stacks 1, 2 & 3 to Large Compact Storage (which from now on will be called “Stacks”) on the bottom floor of the law library. They will remain there throughout the library renovation which will begin in January and should be completed by June of 2010.

Generally, the reference collection near the research librarian offices and all books in the J-JZ, K, KF, and KZ ranges in the stacks were moved to the compact Stacks. All other books in the Main Reading Room will be moved to Stacks in late December.

Books from the stacks in the A-H, KB-KW, and L-Z ranges were moved to storage in Hesburgh Library.

The law library catalog (Link) http://innopac.law.nd.edu/ will clearly identify whether a title is in Stacks or Hesburgh Storage. You are free to venture into Stacks to retrieve books, but see a Circulation Desk attendant if you want a book from Hesburgh Storage. Someone from Access Services will get the book and notify you when it will be available at the Circulation Desk. Access Services plans to send a courier to Hesburgh Library twice a day.

Remember, ask a research librarian or Circulation Desk attendant for help if you have any problems locating a book!
