On April 21, 2013, 2L Beth Scarola will run the 2013 London Marathon on behalf of the International Justice Mission UK.

The International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators, and aftercare professionals work with local officials to secure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to ensure that public justice systems—police, courts, and laws—effectively protect the poor.

“I have had such great support, both financial and emotional, from the Notre Dame community. It has been incredible. Friends from undergrad and the law school have helped me tremendously,” said Scarola. Part of this help has come through the Notre Dame International Law Society, who is sending a donation to the IJM in Scarola’s name.

Already having raised $4,500, Scarola has committed to raise approximately $6,000 by race day. She continues to accept donations through her fundraising page.
