Professor Gurulé Addresses Conference on International Criminal Law in Siracusa, Italy

Professor Jimmy Gurulé delivered two panel presentations at a major international conference held in Siracusa, Italy, May 20-24, 2012.

The 12th Specialization Course in International Criminal Law, “Assessing Patterns of Transnational Organized Crime, the International Criminal Responsibility of Non-state Actors, and the Effectiveness of the International Enforcement System,” was sponsored by the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences (Instituto Superiore Internazionale di Scienze Criminali), the leading global institute on international criminal law, which is headquartered in Siracusa, Italy. Professor Gurulé lectured on “Domestic and International Mechanisms to Ensure International Cooperation to Prevent Cross-Border Tax Evasion” and “Accountability for Financial Institutions that Engage in Financial Transactions with the Intent to Promote Criminal Activity.”

Co-sponsors of the international conference included: Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (Washington, D.C.); University of Palermo Faculty of Law (Palermo, Italy); Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University of Ireland (Galway, Ireland); Middlesex University Department of Law (London, UK); and the International Association of Penal Law – AIDP (Paris, France).

Professor Gurulé is an internationally known expert in the field of international criminal law. At Notre Dame Law School he focuses his scholarship and teaching in the areas of international criminal law, white collar crime, terrorism law, and criminal and forensic evidence.
