An international interdisciplinary law and finance workshop co-sponsored by NDLS and spearheaded by NDLS Professor Colleen Baker will bring together legal academics, financial economists, policymakers, and legal practitioners at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago June 16-17.

The workshop on “Legal Arrangements for Cross-border Resolution and Liquidity in OTC Derivative Markets: Theoretical Insights from A Legal Theory of Finance and Other Contemporary Perspectives” will analyze post-financial crisis challenges to global liquidity (funding) provision and resolution (management of insolvency) in over-the-counter derivative markets.

Funding for the workshop was made available by the Law School’s Larry Bonner Endowment for Commodities and Securities Law.

Professor Baker’s co-organizers include Katharina Pistor, the Michael I. Sovern Professor of Law at Columbia Law School; Daniel Awrey, Associate Professor of Law and Finance at the University of Oxford, and Robert Steigerwald, a policymaker at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Joining NDLS in sponsoring the workshop are the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Department of Economics, and College of Arts and Letters; the Columbia Law School’s Center on Global Legal Transformation, the Oxford University Faculty of Law; and The Wharton Financial Institutions Center.
