Kate Maxwell ‘25 J.D. Receives 2025 NAWL Outstanding Law Student Award

Each year, the National Association of Women Lawyers honors graduating law students who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing NAWL’s mission by contributing to the advancement of women in society and promoting issues experienced by women in the legal profession.
Graduating ND Law student Kate Maxwell is the recipient of one of the 2025 NAWL Outstanding Law Student Awards.
Maxwell was nominated for the award by Professor Jennifer Mason McAward who said, “Kate is dynamic, smart, hardworking, and committed to advancing women in the legal profession. She has been a great leader at ND Law School and she will continue to be a highly effective advocate for women lawyers.”
During her time at Notre Dame Law School, Maxwell served as president of the Women’s Legal Forum, oralist selection chair of the Moot Court Board, and was a member of both the First Generation Professionals Society and St. Thomas More Society. She participated in the Office of General Counsel Externship, was an admissions ambassador, and worked in the alumni relations office as a student manager.
Maxwell earned her undergraduate degree from Marian University in Indianapolis. During her 1L summer she worked at Krieg DeVault LLP and during her 2L summer she was a summer associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. After graduation, she will work in litigation at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in Chicago.
