Robert Egan

It is with a heavy heart that the law school announces the passing of Robert Egan on April 6, 2023 in Skokie, Illinois. Soon after graduation from law school, Egan rose to be one of the top criminal prosecutors in Cook County. Early in his career, Egan was the Assistant State’s Attorney supervising the removal of bodies from John Wayne Gacy’s house and would go on to prosecute Gacy. Over the next thirty years, Egan worked as a lead prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Office, Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and in private practice as a Criminal Defense Attorney. During his career, Egan would try more than eighty murder cases, fifty of which were jury trials. Egan later went on to assume management roles within the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and the State’s Attorney’s Office. To read more about Robert Egan’s life view the obituary.
