In Memoriam: Joseph K. Cooney, ‘72 BA, ‘75 J.D.

It is with great sadness that the law school announces the passing of Joseph Cooney on August 17, 2022 in Estero, Florida following a battle with Multiple Myeloma. After earning his law degree and clerking for a New Jersey Superior Court judge, Cooney settled in Monmouth County, where he practiced medical malpractice defense law for more than 40 years. In 1981, Cooney partnered with Doug Widman to co-found the law firm of Widman & Conney which thrived for 37 years. To read a beautiful tribute to Cooney’s life please visit the obituary.
