It is with a heavy heart that Notre Dame Law School announces the passing of James Patrick Cooney ’66, ’69 J.D. Cooney built a distinguished legal career spanning more than four decades, practicing admiralty and maritime law at Royston, Rayzor, Vickery & Williams, L.L.P. in Houston. He handled significant maritime matters and maintained an active trial and appellate practice, appearing before courts throughout the country, including the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
