7th Annual National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom

The Notre Dame Moot Court Board will be hosting the 7th Annual National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom on October 29th and 30th in Eck Hall. 

Schedule:

  • Saturday, Oct. 29 at 12:30pm EST: Lecture by Judge David R. Stras of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, “What My Grandparent’s Experiences in the Holocaust Taught me about the First Amendment.”

    • Sponsored by the Notre Dame Moot Court Board and 2022 Religious Freedom Tournament  
    • Location: Notre Dame Eck Hall of Law, McCartan Courtroom
    • All Tournament participants, judges, and NDLS students are invited to attend. Because seating is limited, admittance will require a seat reservation.

  • Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2pm EST: Semifinal 1 
    • Panel: Judge Stephen R. Clark of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Ms. Francesca G. Matozzo of the Notre Dame Religious Liberty Clinic, and Mr. Bradley Girard of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.   
    • Location: Notre Dame Eck Hall of Law, McCartan Courtroom
    • Doors open at 1:45pm. Please enter Eck through the door under the law school arch (the other doors will be locked).
    • All Tournament participants, judges, and ND students are invited to attend. Because seating is limited, admittance will require a seat reservation.

    • Panel: Judge Wendy Vitter of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Judge Damon Leichty of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, and Ms. Lori Windham of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty
    • Location: Notre Dame Eck Hall of Law, McCartan Courtroom
    • Doors open at 3:45pm. Please enter Eck through the door under the law school arch (the other doors will be locked).
    • Tournament Finalists will be announced at 5:45pm EST.

    • Panel: Judge Ryan D. Nelson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Judge David R. Stras of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eight Circuit, and Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
