About the Lecture

The Irish Judges at the Center of the English Commercial Court:
Mr. Justice Mathews (1830 - 1908) and Lord Russell of Killowen (1832 - 1900)

Countries across the world are seeking to promote their law and legal service professionals to the international business community. The role of the English Commercial Court and its judges in promoting English law and England as a jurisdiction for dispute resolution around the world has not gone unnoticed. As Ireland joins this legal competition, this lecture will look at the two Irish judges who were instrumental in setting up the now famous English Commercial Court in the 1890s and reflect on the opportunities that Brexit presents to the Irish legal industry.

The lecture is free and open to all. Registration is required.
