A Jurisprudence of Doubt: Hellerstedt, the New Court, and the Future of Abortion Law

Professor Scott Gaylord, Professor of Law at Elon University School of Law, will present on the state of the Supreme Court's abortion jurisprudence in the wake of its landmark 2016 case Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt. Professor Gaylord will also discuss how a new Court with a replacement for the now-retired Anthony Kennedy might develop that body of law, and which challenges to the current jurisprudence are most likely to arise out of the states. Professor Gaylord earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his J.D. summa cum laude from Notre Dame Law School. Lunch will be provided.
