The Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley presents its 2018 Hesburgh Lecture, which will be delivered by Judge Amy Coney Barrett '97 J.D. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Judge Barrett's lecture is: What Would James Madison Do? Are judges bound to enforce the Constitution as the framers understood it? Or are they free to fashion constitutional law that accounts for contemporary values? This lecture explores the debate about the role of original meaning in constitutional interpretation.
