A Talk with Tim Rooney, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Tim Rooney, staff attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, will discuss employment opportunities and career paths at the USPTO. Rooney will also discuss other important topics related to the USPTO, including ethical considerations facing intellectual property law practitioners.

By way of background, Rooney’s duties with the Office of Enrollment and Discipline include investigating grievances alleging misconduct by practitioners, evaluating applications for registration to practice before the USPTO in patent matters, and assisting with OED outreach to USPTO stakeholders. Prior to joining the USPTO, he practiced patent law at an Am Law top 100 firm. Rooney received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.
