Rare Book and Special Collections
Use of the Kresge Law Library’s Rare Book and Special Collections material is restricted to the Rare Books Reading Room and is subject to approval by the Rare Books Librarian.
- Location: 2315 Biolchini Hall of Law
- Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
Researchers whose work requires use of the Kresge Law Library's Rare Book and Special Collections must contact the Rare Books Librarian in advance, who will consult to determine what materials are needed and prepare them for access. The Librarian will then confirm a scheduled date and time. Access is ordinarily limited to a two-hour period and a maximum of two items at a time, but exceptions can be made as needed after the consultation.
Carefully heed all staff instructions for the handling of Rare Book materials. Only pencils and laptop computers may be brought into the reading room. Ink pens are strictly prohibited. All other personal belongings, including coats, jackets, hats, purses, and bags, must be checked at the circulation desk. All items are subject to examination by Library staff upon entering and leaving the Reading Room.
