Steven A Mitchell joined the Kresge Law Library as a law librarian in August 2021. He earned his B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania; his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where he was managing editor of the Journal of Law & Liberty; and his M.S. in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute.
Throughout his time in higher education, both as a student and in his professional career, he has studied and supported a range of academic disciplines. This has given him a strong interest in interdisciplinary and comparative approaches to legal research. He is especially interested in the history and role of documentation in law, the popular communication of law, legal history, law and literature (satire in particular), the linguistics of legal information, and the mutual influence between law and the Church in the medieval and early modern periods.
