Dates and Deadlines
The dates below are intended to provide a general overview of the timing of the financial aid and loan cycle. Many of these dates are estimates and will vary from year to year. Please only use this as a general guide; admitted students should consult the admissions office for more information.
Start completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 1. The FAFSA may be completed online at fafsa.ed.gov and is required for all federal loans. Notre Dame’s Federal School Code is 001840.
Important note: You can file your 2017–18 FAFSA as early as Oct. 1, 2016, rather than beginning on Jan. 1, 2017. The earlier submission date will be a permanent change, enabling you to complete and submit the FAFSA as early as October 1 every year. Beginning with the 2017–18 FAFSA, you’ll be required to report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For example, on the 2017–18 FAFSA, you will report your 2015 income and tax info, rather than your 2016 income and tax information.
End of December
Students who applied and were accepted early decision will receive their scholarship notification.
Students who applied and were accepted regular decision will receive their scholarship notification.
Deadline for submitting the FAFSA receive priority processing consideration for financial assistance.
Date by which the Office of Financial Aid begins to mail Loan Award Notification letters to candidates who submitted the FAFSA by the February 28 suggested deadline.
Suggested date for completing the Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and, if needed, any other educational loans.
Date the Office of Student Accounts generates a student’s first billing statement with a due date of mid-August.
