Cam Findlay, General Counsel at Medtronic "Government Regulation and Economic Growth"

The Federalist Society is excited to welcome Cam Findlay, General Counsel at Medtronic on February 23 at 12:30 in Room 1140. Mr. Findlay, a former deputy secretary at the Labor Department who now oversees Medtronic’s team of 120 attorneys, will discuss how government regulation affects innovation, risk-taking, and entrepreneurship.
BLSA Mock Trial Team Place First at Regionals

Congratulations to the BLSA Mock Trial Team for winning a regional mock-trial championship in Columbus, OH this weekend! Alvin Adjei, Steven Baugh, Colin Diamond, and Topher Regan (all 3Ls) went out, impressed their peers and judges, and took home First Place. They’re headed to Nationals in Washington, DC in the near future.
Assistant Dean Gail Peshel announces retirement

After eleven years of dedicated service, Gail Peshel, Assistant Dean for Career Services, has decided to retire effective March 2. In this role, she has helped countless Notre Dame students find positions during and after law school. She is a national leader in career services, having served as the President of the National Association of Law Placement, and in numerous capacities for the Chicago and the Indiana bars.
Kevin O’Rear will be the Assistant Dean for Career Development, beginning March 3. Kevin joined the Career Development Office as Assistant Director in 2011. He has served as an adjunct professor in the deposition skills course since 2004. Kevin graduated from Notre Dame and Virginia Law and worked at Jones Day and Baker & Daniels before becoming VP and General Counsel of AM General in South Bend.

New Titles for the Practicing Lawyer

Prof. Jim Seckinger donated a set of materials to the library from CLE workshop he taught in December on questioning of expert witnesses in international arbitration. Also of note for the practicing lawyer is the 2011-2012 edition of volume 14 of the annual review of ―Family Law – Children in Need of Services‖ in the Indiana Practice series published by West. This volume is authored by Eric Smithburn and Ann Carol Nash.
