Who We Are

Jonah Smith is currently the President of the Intellectual Property Law Society, after having been elected at the end of his 1L year. Jonah has a background in carbon biogeochemistry and molecular biology. He has held research positions at a variety of institutions, including the Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Notre Dame Biology Department (molecular parasitology) and the Indiana University School of Medicine (immunology). He has also taught at Rutgers, Notre Dame and Holy Cross College, among others. Jonah is interested in patent litigation and prosecution and writes an IP blog for Southern California IP firm Mandour & Associates.

Kara Novak is currently the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society, after having been elected at the end of her 2L year. She has a B.A. in Mathematics and Music from Hamilton College.
Her interest in these subjects drives her desire to practice intellectual property law. During her second and third years at Notre Dame Law School, she researched copyright issues regarding iTunes thirty-second song samples and the ideologies behind public performance protection for sound recording copyright holders. Kara is currently seeking employment in the IP field.

Kendall Loebbaka is currently the Treasurer of the Intellectual Property Law Society, after having been elected at the end of her 1L year.
Amy Potter is currently the Secretary of the Intellectual Property Law Society, after having been elected at the end of her 2L year.
