Choosing a City View Calendar
Things to consider when picking a city:
- Consider where you will be over the last week of Christmas break (the GALILEE program is traditionally a three to four day program).
- If you are interested in a city and none of your friends seem to be, do not immediately give up. Let others know during the first meeting in the fall that you might be interested in a particular area.
- Be open to forming a team with classmates you do not know that well. GALILEE is an urban plunge. One of the best parts about it is sharing ideas and experiences while getting to know new people.
- Think about coming back early if there isn’t a lot of interest in your home city. There will almost certainly be programs going on in South Bend and/or Chicago. These programs have been going on for years and will feature some exciting experiences close to campus.
- Try not to put together an overly large group. It must be four individuals at least, however groups of more than ten participants can get unmanageable, especially for the smaller service agencies you might visit. If there is a great deal of interest in one city, consider splitting into two smaller groups.
