Margaret Foran

Margaret M. (“Peggy”) J.D. ’79, has been given a warm tribute by the quarterly journal Directors & Boards.

The special feature article described Foran, the chief governance officer and corporate secretary of Prudential Financial, as “the rare individual who has earned the respect of all constituencies in the ongoing governance debates.”

It said that, “This is in large part due to her thoughtful, proactive engagement with shareholders on behalf of Pfizer, Sara Lee and, now, Prudential Financial.”

Claudia H. Allen, chair of the Corporate Governance Practice Group at Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP, and author of the tribute, noted Foran’s international reputation and said that “When corporate lawyers are discussing potential shareholder proposals or difficult governance questions, ‘Let’s ask Peggy’ is a common refrain — because we know that Peggy has been carefully following and analyzing these issues.”

Foran is a Double Domer who earned both her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) and J.D. degrees from Notre Dame. More information about Ms. Foran’s career is available here.
