CCHR pier poster conference The Center for Civil and Human Rights is pleased to announce its co-sponsorship of the 2010 Francisco Suárez S.J. Moot Court Competition on International Law and Human Rights. The competition will be held at the Francisco Suárez S.J. Center for the Study of International Law at the School of Juridical Sciences of the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia from October 25 through October 29. Begun in 2004, this regional competition originated as an effort to contribute to the well-rounded education of lawyers from Jesuit universities throughout Latin America. Its prestige, however, has extended well beyond the Jesuit and other Catholic universities of the region and it now serves a formative role in the education of the future human rights lawyers of Latin America. Last year’s competition earned the recognition of the Organization of American States (OAS) for its importance in the promotion of human rights in the region. As part of the CCHR’s co-sponsorship, CCHR Research Associate Pier Paolo Pigozzi (NDLS LL.M. ’10) will participate as both a judge and a speaker. During the competition, Mr. Pigozzi will observe the top students studying law in Latin America as well as speak to this select group about the CCHR’s LL.M. and J.S.D degree programs in international human rights law. Applications for these programs are available HERE.
