Jeremy Kemper recently became an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Bismark, North Dakota. In this new position, Kemper will spend a major part of his practice defending Native Americans charged with crimes under the Major Crimes Act (18 USC 1153).

Jerome M. Janser, CEO of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., in Milwaukee, is pleased to announce that Kate E. Maternowski was named the Reinhart Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for 2013. Maternowski was selected as Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for her work on a federal jury trial where she represented a prisoner bringing a claim for sexual abuse against a correctional officer. After the first trial resulted in a mistrial, Maternowski successfully mediated the case to resolution before a federal magistrate judge. The award recognizes exceptional efforts of attorneys within the firm who demonstrate a long-standing and devoted commitment to pro bono work.
