Joseph W. Thomas, the head of technical services at the Kresge Law Library, was honored with the Rev. Paul J. Foik, C.S.C., excellence award at the annual Notre Dame President’s Dinner held on campus in May. Thomas is one of 13 members of the University’s faculty to receive a 2008 excellence award.
An excerpt from Thomas’s citation follows:
“Since his arrival on campus in 1989, Joe has accepted increasing challenges with dedication, compassion, and grace. As his letter of nomination noted, Joe is an “excellent administrator, a very knowledgeable librarian and a terrific colleague.” He currently leads the largest unit within the Kresge Law Library, and he is playing a critical role in the Law School building and renovation process. Joe has contributed significantly at the national level to the American Association of Law Libraries. He is a past chair of both the Technical Services Special Interest Section and the Price Index Advisory Committee. Joe also served for three years as editor of the Technical Services Law Librarian. Joe is a role model for his professional work and for his personal commitment to Notre Dame’s ideals and mission.”
