On May 16, 2008, Notre Dame Law School Professor Mary Ellen O’Connell appeared on The Agenda with Steve Paikin, a current affairs program produced by Canadian broadcaster TVO, to debate the international concept The Responsibility to Protect (R2P). The following video excerpt is an exchange between Professor O’Connell, who is critical of The Responsibility to Protect, and former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations Allan Rock, who wanted R2P invoked to facilitate humanitarian aid to Burma following the recent cyclone.
